PROPECIA INFORMATION

GENERIC NAME:
Finasteride

PROPECIA INFO: Propecia is a remedy for baldness in men who suffer from mild to moderate hair loss on the top of the head and the front of the mid-scalp area. Propecia will increase hair growth, improve hair regrowth, and slow down hair loss. Propecia works only on scalp hair, and does not affect hair on other parts of the body.

HOW TO TAKE PROPECIA: For maximum benefit, Propecia should be taken regularly, once a day. It can be taken with or without food.

PROPECIA SIDE EFFECTS: Propecia's side effects are primarily sexual, and relatively uncommon (they affect one or two men in one hundred). If you are taking Propecia and note that any side effects develop or change in intensity, inform your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Propecia after you have noted side effects. Common side effects include - breast tenderness and enlargement, itching, rash, swelling, decreased amount of semen per ejaculation, decreased sex drive, impotence and testicular pain.

PROPECIA PRECAUTIONS:
Propecia is NOT for use by women. If taken during pregnancy, it can potentially cause the abnormal development of a male baby's genital organs. Do not use Propecia if it gives you an allergic reaction, or if you've ever had an allergic reaction to its chemical twin, known as Proscar. If you have liver problems, use Propecia with caution. Additionally, Propecia lowers readings of the PSA screening test for prostate cancer. Thus, if you're scheduled to have your PSA level checked, ensure that the doctor knows that you're taking Propecia.

PROPECIA INTERACTIONS: No significant drug interactions have been reported for this medication.

PROPECIA NOTES:
You can expect an improvement within a year of beginning Propecia treatment. The improvement will last only as long as you take Propecia; if you stop taking it, new hair growth will cease, and hair loss will resume. Note also that Propecia works best in the regions of the head where hair is thinning or balding.

MISSED PROPECIA DOSE: If you miss your scheduled Propecia dose, do not try to make it up. Simply skip that dose and resume your usual schedule. It is important to try to follow your dosing schedule carefully, and to take each pill at the correct time.

STORAGE:
Propecia is to be kept at room temperature and in a place that is free of moisture and excessive sunlight. Keep it in its original container.
